Mr. Heatherman started his career as an Officer in the United States Marine Corps, where he prosecuted courts-martial, including numerous jury trials, and later, deployed to Afghanistan with an infantry battalion. Because of the dangers of deployment, Mr. Heatherman also prepared estate plans for hundreds of Marines, Sailors, and their families. After the Marine Corps, Mr. Heatherman served as the General Counsel of a Tulsa-based oil and gas company, before enrolling at the University of Notre Dame, where he received a Master of Business Administration, cum laude. Mr. Heatherman then moved to Fort Collins, Colorado with his wife and founded a successful litigation law firm. After many wonderful years practicing law in the Colorado foothills, which included several successful civil jury trials, Mr. Heatherman and his wife decided to return to their hometown, Tulsa, to raise their ever-growing family. Shortly after returning to Tulsa, Mr. Heatherman returned to public service where he served as an Assistant United States Attorney. As a federal prosecutor, Mr. Heatherman had the opportunity to lead in several different roles. He first served as the white-collar crime coordinator for the Eastern District of Oklahoma and later the civil rights and human trafficking coordinator for all federal districts in Oklahoma. Finally, Mr. Heatherman was promoted to be the Violent Crimes Team Leader and Lead Homicide Prosecutor for the Northern District of Oklahoma, where he successfully prosecuted as first chair a wide array of jury trials, including multiple complex first-degree murder jury trials. Mr. Heatherman has also authored and argued multiple successful state and federal appellate briefs.
His practice focuses on estate planning and all areas of litigation, including probate and estate litigation, business litigation, business and corporate disputes, criminal litigation and procedural consulting, insurance litigation, and all real estate-related litigation. Mr. Heatherman is admitted to practice before all State and Federal courts in Oklahoma, Colorado, and the Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces. Mr. Heatherman received his Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Oklahoma, with a major in Accounting and his law degree from the University of Tulsa College of Law. He continues to serve as a Major in the United States Marine Corps Reserves. He lives in Tulsa with his wife, Becky, and their four sons.
